Our Roasts

House — The individual roast level we feel brings out the best qualities in each coffee.

Espresso — Not a roast level; rather, it's the specific level to which individual types of beans are roasted in order to optimize flavor for espresso extraction.

American (Light) — Light in color, this roast results in a very bright coffee that accentuates the more delicate nuances of a particular bean. This roast is commonly preferred in the northeastern US.

City (Medium-light) — A step darker than the American roast. It produces a slightly smoother cup while maintaining a good bit of brightness and many of the nuanced characteristics of the bean.

Full City (Medium) — Typically produces a smooth, rich cup that retains the sweet flavor notes and individual characteristics of the bean while creating a slightly less bright cup than a City roast.

Viennese (Medium-Dark) — Generally produces a very rich cup that retains a slight sweetness of flavor and some individual bean characteristics with just a hint of bitter roast-tones beginning to come through.

Italian (Dark) — Dark in color, this roast typically produces a rich coffee with little brightness and pronounced bittersweet flavor. This roast style first became popular in southern Italy.

French — Produces an extremely rich (almost burnt) coffee that has low acidity and a dominating bittersweet flavor.
